A Blush of Nature

Well, after two weeks of reprieve from blogging because of major illnesses in the family, I am back in the swing of things. My husband had H1N1 and it took him two weeks to get over it. My son had a severe case of the flu and was out for a while and the same with my daughter who also had two severe ear infections that the doctor said were on the verge of bursting. Now we've emerged above it all ready to take on the world again. We decided to tackle this nearby mountain...Further up the mountain in the higher altitudes, we came upon snow. The weather has been so crazy--We had about a month of intense cold where we had frost and snow forcing us into an early winter, until this last week where the temperatures rose into the upper 60's and lower 70's melting the snow in the valley. I've loved the weather this past week and so we took advantage of the nicer weather.

We enjoyed a wonderful stroll in the mountains. Despite the snow we've gotten, the mountains were still full of surprise and splendor with just incredible splatterings of color. Being out in the fresh air after being couped up for so long, brought a greater perspective and appreciation for life and nature.

We came upon this river bank and waterfall. We came upon this tree with the roots growing out into the falls. Isn't it cool? The flow of the river has worn the root down and made it so smooth.

A view looking west out into the valley...

I am so happy to hear that you all are feeling better. Man that must have been tough.
Those photos are just breathtaking! I can't say enough about them. It must have been so refreshing and welcome to get outside and see such beauty after being so sick and couped up. Your daughter is quite a beautiful girl by the way. She's going to be quite the heartbreaker if she isn't already.

Wow, that is gorgeous! Our colors haven't been as brilliant. We've had TONS of rain, so perhaps that is it.
